Hello my name is Lara Roberts welcome to my website

I’m a passionate pet portrait artist with 20 years’ experience and a BA Hons in Fine Art and well, to be honest, a life time experience in painting, drawing and being creative – my terrible spelling is testament to just how much more time I spend being creative than anything else! My childhood was spent growing up in the New Forest, if you haven’t been you absolutely must! To me it is the most magical place and I spent every spare moment of my time with my New Forest Pony Bluey and our family dog Murphy.

Having the forest as my extended garden has given me a lifelong love for all wildlife, particularly dogs and (strange I know) but sharks too! I was the ‘arty’ one of the family so it only seemed natural that these two passions were merged and after giving my Mother a portrait of our dog for Mother’s day ‘Lara Roberts Fine Art’ was born. I love the journey of learning with every new painting and these days I’ve continued this journey by regularly attending life drawing classes at London Fine Art Studios. We’re taught the core principles of proportion, gesture, values and colour. I’ve learnt so much, not only from these classes but painting alongside other artists as well and I believe this is reflected in my work. I have travelled and lived abroad which lead me to meeting my husband and we are now settled in South West London with our adorable whippet Archie.

When I’m working I listen to music or podcasts and with my music taste ranging from the Spice Girls’ to the Who, my husband is grateful that I have a studio at the end of the garden away from him! Instead, I share my workspace with Archie who enjoys sunbathing in the studio during the summer or cuddling by the radiator during winter months.

I do hope you like my work and if you have any questions regarding a commission or a piece of work I very much look forward to talking with you.
